I have a 2005 Sterling LT9513 losing about a gallon of oil a week!!! Repair costs are to high but need to
do something about this. I have some good things and bad things about oil stop leak. Need advice on
what to do or which oil stop leak is best for my truck. Even if it just gets half better I’d be happy.
Loses more oil under heavy load…
Already checked oil cooler and its not leaking…
Very wet by rear main…
Any advice would help. Thanks.
I have the same truck and had the same problem. Did alot of research on the different oil stop leak
brands out there and found the Titan oil stop leak. They were the only company to actually have a oil
stop leak kit specially made for the semi trucks. Their kit included 6 small 8oz. bottles of a special non
thickening stop leak formula very different from any of the other brands like Lucas or Bars.
It costs around 200 bucks but it stopped all my oil leaks and it been almost 3 years now. I know I spent
more then that just on replacing lost oil for a few months.
What it boils down to is the other brands like Lucas and Bars just make your oil thicker which slows the
leak down. That really doesn’t fix anything. The Titan stuff is mostly silicone and when you add it to your
oil the oil seals absorb it and grow back to their original size. That actual stops the leak the right way.
No increase in compression and no clogs. It was worth every penny.
The titan oil stop leak is the best of the big three Lucas, Titan and Bars… We use it at our depot on
pretty much everything. Cheaper than tear-downs…
A lot of mechanics would say never put anything in your rigs’s engine but their not the ones paying for
the rebuilds. I say if it works use it.
I tried the Lucas oil stop leak a few years ago. It seemed to me to just be 80 weight gear oil. It did slow
the leak down but once I changed my oil the leak came back the same day. I didn’t know about the
Titan stuff. It sounds pretty high tech…
Let me know how it works for you…
Blue Devil clogged it!!!
I used the Titan sealer in my Cascadia a few years ago and Its still holding. It had a few minor oil leaks
nothing horrible. Anyway just thought i’d let you
know its worth trying…
Beats paying a few grand on replacing a
gasket that only cost 60 bucks…
Ahh a truckers life, make the hual get the
money and spend it fixing your truck.
Decent equipment. Opti-idle trucks don't have APUs. No company-supplied Prepass. Mostly manual transmissions, but fleet
starting to move to Autoshifters. Cruise at 65, pedal at 62. OTR has been very good miles. Starting OTR 49 cpm. With two
deductions claimed, and full health insurance for one person, I am taking home an average of over 1000/week.
The best way to fix the oil leak is to replace the gaskets. Just save up for the rebuild.
I did, and it only cost me 28 thousand. Not bad
right? Just kidding… I had to do the rebuild for
other reasons. If I just had oil leaks I’d be
looking for that Titan stuff too… Maybe I’ll
try it on one of my other trucks.
Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
Like my pic? Took it while driving through Miami to Ginesville, Fl.
Wanted to let you know, I used the Titan oil stop leak on my 2011 Volvo VNL64T770 last year and it
worked! Been a year and still no leak. The funny thing is all you here about is Lucas, Lucas, Lucas and
that shit sucks… I tried it and all it did was clog my oil cooler. The Titan’s not cheap but its worth it.
The other thing that makes me laugh is listening to all these other guys proclaim from the dam mountain
tops, Don’t use any sealers- ers -ers -ers…. Blah blah… If you use the right stuff it can’t damage your
engine. You wanna be a cheap ass and buy the cheap Lucas then you get what you pay for. You spend
the money on the best stuff, you get the best results. Simple as that. Bottom line if your gonna use a oil
stop leak you better make sure its the Titan stuff no damage no issues no problems.
