Should I use an oil stop leak? My 2004 Honda Civic is leaking oil. The mechanic say its coming from the rear main and the oil pan. I’m in college and seriously can’t afford to have those parts of the car replaced. I’ve seen some oil stop leaks at walmart and a few on the internet but my boyfriend says not to use them and that they might hurt my engine. But I have to do something because my oil level got so low it started running hot last week!!! Any advice would be really appreciated… Thanks.
If you can’t afford to have those gasket replaced then a stop leak is the only thing thats going tp keep your civic on thee road so I say go for it! I used lucas oil top leak in my jeep and it slowed my oil leak down a lot. Lasted about 6 months. It’s pretty cheap too i think I paid about 20 bucks for it.
Call dady and have him pay to get it fixed.
If the leak is as serious as you say spring for the Titan oil stop leak, it costs more than the Lucas but its totally worth it. It can’t harm your engine and it lasts around 4 to 5 years…
I used the titan stuff in my F350 turbo diesel last year for a serious oil leak coming from between the head and engine block and it stopped the leak in a few days. Funny thing was my friends said I was wasting my money…
As far as oil stop leaks go the Titan sealer is the best of the best. Not cheap but if you have a nice car I wouldn’t put anything else in it. It worked for me on my Volvo even after trying Bars first…
